As Penguins players stuffed their belongings inside black duffel bags Friday after a lengthy practice at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry, the usual routine before the exhibition finale today at PPG Paints Arena, one particular bag stood out.
It was next to defenseman Brian Dumoulin, and it had cooking supplies in it not hockey gear: a cutting board, some utensils and a few pans. It came from a fan who learned of Dumoulin’s love of cooking and had sent him some knives from Montreal.
While Dumoulin has spent the past year turning up the heat on his NHL career, blossoming into a top-pairing defenseman alongside Kris Letang, off the ice one of Dumoulin’s biggest passions is cooking.
