There are a lot of downsides to the Penguins’ game in Washington this afternoon being postponed because of the winter storm that has savaged the District of Columbia.
The most obvious is that, with no makeup date readily available, the league will have to find a way to shoehorn the game into its schedule sometime in the next two-plus months.
But there also is one benefit, at least temporarily, for the Penguins in having the game today postponed, and it’s not the eliminated threat of having to take dogsleds to get to the arena.
Fact is, the Penguins’ biggest concern about playing Washington might have been that they played a game Saturday against Vancouver at Consol Energy Center.
