TORONTO — The randomness of hockey was on display Saturday during the Penguins’ 5-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.
One, the Penguins had a decent night offensively and controlled play for long stretches. The only thing they didn’t do was get a few bounces, which their opponent did.
But that’s not why you’ll remember this game.
What will be talked about more is this: The NHL’s goaltender interference Wheel of Doom started spinning late in the second period and quite possibly decided the outcome.
The Penguins were down, 3-0, at the time, but they were hardly struggling to generate chances.
