No disciplinary hearing for Penguins' Letang after incident against Rangers

NEW YORK — Penguins defenseman Kris Letang will not have a disciplinary hearing with the league after smacking New York Rangers forward Viktor Stalberg in the face with his stick Tuesday night.

Letang was coming off a check by Rangers center Dominic Moore behind the Penguins' goal line when he swung his stick and appeared to strike Stalberg in or near the mouth.

There was no penalty on the play.

Letang went on to score an empty-net goal with 12.1 seconds left to seal the Penguins' 3-1 victory, which gave them a 2-1 lead in their opening-round playoff series.
