CRANBERRY, Pa. -- The NHLPA declined to reopen the current collective bargaining agreement, ensuring labor peace until at least 2022, NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr announced on Monday.
The NHLPA announced today that the Executive Board has declined to reopen the CBA with the NHL following the 2019-20 season. The current CBA remains in effect through the 2021-22 season. The NHLPA advised the League of its decision earlier today. pic.twitter.com/IdZZT9HXL7
The current CBA is set to expire following the 2021-22 season. Both the league and the player’s association had the option this to opt out early and reopen the CBA in 2020, however, which could have led to a lockout to start the 2020-21 season.
