New Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said Monday he will attempt to establish a shooting power play that doesn’t try to orchestrate the perfect play. Many men before him have tried to instill the same.
Sullivan will take over operation of the power play starting at 7:08 p.m. tonight against the Washington Capitals. He said he will use all means possible to rid the team of that pass-first mentality that can’t work in the NHL.
“One of the things I’m going to try and impress upon them is that we can’t look for the perfect play,” said Sullivan.
