National Aviary to host Marc-Andre Fleury appreciation day

Marc-Andre Fleury may be gone to the Vegas Golden Knights, but the National Aviary wants to celebrate him anyway.

The bird sanctuary will host an appreciation day Friday featuring Penguins-themed activities and tributes to the former Penguins goalie, who was selected from the Penguins’ roster in the NHL expansion draft last week.

Festivities planned include painting sessions, a raffle, a video looking back at Fleury’s past visits and an appearance by Penguins mascot, Iceburg. The aviary will also name one of its African penguins after Fleury.

Activities begin at 11 a.m. and run until 3 p.
