Matt Murray is still the Penguins’ unquestioned starter in goal, but over the past week, he seems to have found some success as their closer.
Murray has come on in relief of Tristan Jarry twice in the last five days, and was perfect in both appearances.
The most recent instance had a much higher degree of difficulty, as Murray shut the door on the Bruins in the second and third period of the Penguins’ 6-5 overtime win against Boston Sunday night.
On Tuesday, Murray came on for an injured Jarry in the second period of the Penguins’ 5-1 win against the Flyers.
