Starting goaltender Matt Murray returned to Penguins practice on Monday morning at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
Murray, who left the team last week on the West Coast because of his father James’ sudden death in Thunder Bay, Ontario, last played a game Jan. 7.
Coming out of the team’s bye week, Murray returned home for a personal/matter — which obviously turned out to be his dad’s condition. Murray flew to California with the team but went home again when his dad died.
In Murray’s absence, Tristan Jarry and Casey DeSmith have split goaltending duties.
This season has not been a pretty one statistically speaking for the two-time Stanley Cup winner.
