Matt Murray knows his role on the Penguins is probably going to be a bit different this year.
With Marc-Andre Fleury in Vegas, Murray is the team’s unquestioned No. 1 goalie. His workload will probably tick up, and he’s hoping to take on a larger leadership role in the locker room.
Fleury’s departure also means that Murray, still just 23, is now the longest-tenured goalie on the Penguins’ roster. When new teammate Antti Niemi, 11 years Murray’s senior, moved to the Pittsburgh area this offseason, Murray was willing to dish out some advice.
