As expected, several Penguins hit the open market as unrestricted free agents when free agency officially opened at noon today.
The list includes Craig Adams, Taylor Chorney, Blake Comeau, Steve Downie, Christian Ehrhoff, Thomas Greiss, Maxim Lapierre, Paul Martin and Daniel Winnik.
It was just reported by Newsday that Greiss, who served as Marc-Andre Fleury’s backup, has signed with the New York Islanders for a 2-year, $3 million deal.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie reported that Chorney has signed a one-way deal with the Washington Capitals.
The Penguins are expected to formalize an agreement with winger Sergei Plotnikov, a Russian free agent.
