Precedent tells us to expect a few dozen exchanges of players, prospects and draft picks between now and the NHL trade deadline at 3 p.m. Monday.
And that most of those deals will be forgotten in little more time than is needed to file the paperwork to make them official.
Remember that one in 1995, when the Penguins sent defenseman Greg Brown to Winnipeg for a conditional eighth-round draft choice? Or, say, the swap five years later that brought defenseman Dan Trebil to the Penguins for a fifth-rounder in the 2000 draft?
