Longtime Penguins Radio Network executive producer Ray Walker dies

Ray Walker, executive producer of the Penguins Radio Network since 1999 and an integral part of the team’s broadcasts, died Sunday morning after numerous health complications.

Root Sports play-by-play man Paul Steigerwald worked alongside Walker to start the Penguins Radio Network, which, at its peak, operated 24 hours a day.

“He was an irreplaceable part of the broadcast,” Steigerwald said. “He understood everything that went on. He was our saving grace on more nights than I care to remember.”

Walker had a studio in his basement that he used to edit and produce commercials and handle other radio work.
