Kris Letang said he respects the NHL’s decision to suspend him for one-game after a late, head-high hit against Washington Capitals forward Marcus Johansson in Game 3 on Monday night.
“I mean, I respect it,” said Letang after morning skate at Consol Energy Center. “The game, it happens so fast … I respect the decision.”
The NHL Department of Player Safety suspended Letang on Tuesday, for what the league deemed was “a high, forceful hit that makes significant head contact.” An explanation distributed on the ruling said he deserved supplemental discipline because of “the combination of the lateness of the hit and the significant head contact.
