Kris Letang makes his case for being a Norris Trophy finalist

In his final performance of the season on the Canadian stage Tuesday night in Ottawa, defenseman Kris Letang left a heady impression on Norris Trophy voters.

He notched his 49 and 50th assists of the season and played 26 minutes and change.

But the moment that will linger was when he slipped behind goalie Matt Murray and swept a backhander by Alex Chiasson off the goal line late in the third period to preserve a tie that eventually turned into a 5-3 comeback win.

It practically unraveled in slow-motion.

“Best save of my career, but I think overall I’m better off playing defense and not being a goalie,” Letang joked afterwards.
