Pittsburgh Penguins center Kevin Porter will be out 12 weeks after undergoing ankle surgery Friday morning, coach Mike Sullivan said.
Porter suffered the injury when his right leg was pinned against the boards after falling during the Penguins' 4-1 victory against the Rangers on Thursday.
"It's a longer-term injury probably around the 12-week mark," coach Mike Sullivan told reporters. "So it's a tough setback for him and for us."
In his first season with the Penguins, Porter has three assists in 41 games.
