The most important question Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford and coach Mike Johnston faced after they traded for star winger Phil Kessel in July was: On which line Kessel would play?
Their answer to that had been mostly cryptic up until today when Johnston said Kessel, acquired from the Maple Leafs, would start the season – or at least training camp – at right wing on Sidney Crosby’s line.
“We’re looking at Crosby with Kessel and [Evgeni] Malkin with [Patric] Hornqvist,” Johnston said prior to the Penguins Alumni Charity Golf Event at Valley Brook Country Club. “But we’ve got eight exhibition games to try and figure out what works and be ready for the season.
