Sidney Crosby knows the numbers as well as anyone, and likely better than most.
He’s aware that the Penguins, despite a lineup laced with some of the world’s finest offensive talents, have scored just 11 goals in seven games, a meager average of just 1.57.
He realizes their power play, so imposing on paper, has capitalized on just 2 of 25 chances, the NHL’s second-worst conversion rate.
But Crosby also recognizes the Penguins (3-4) have 75 games remaining in the regular season, which is why he believes that any serious anxiety at this point would be, at best, premature.
