Mike Lange has seen it all — most of it, anyway — in 40-plus years calling Penguins games. That’s why I asked him to write the foreword to my book, “Tales From the Pittsburgh Penguins Locker Room.”
There, Lange spoke of the franchise’s humble beginnings and how everything changed when Mario Lemieux walked through the door in 1984. How Pittsburgh soon would become a hub of hockey royalty.
“My God,” Lange wrote. “Look at the people we’ve had through the years here. The Hall of Famers. The stars. Sometimes I don’t think Pittsburgh is aware enough of what we’ve been able to watch on a nightly basis.
