Lose your No. 1 goalie, and you’re screwed no matter what, so quit obsessing over the backup.
Generally, I would agree with the sentiment, one I’ve heard often of late.
But as it pertains to the Penguins? Not so much.
I mean, come on, this team just destroyed that theory like 10 months ago. Have we forgotten already? The Penguins lost their No. 1 goalie — Marc-Andre Fleury — to injury late in the season and wound up winning the Stanley Cup with a 22-year-old in net.
Come to think of it, the Chicago Blackhawks used two goalies on their Cup run a year earlier.
