It was nearly one year ago today that Mike Sullivan stood on a makeshift stage, at the bottom of the Boulevard of the Allies, and belted out the following words in that classic Boston accent of his:
“We know we couldn’t have done it without you, and we know you’re going to be there moving forward. All I say is, ‘Let’s do this again next year.’ ”
A mere 362 days later, the Penguins are a single victory away from assuring Sullivan another date with 400,000 of his closest friends.
One more win, and they will become the first team in 19 years to win back-to-back Stanley Cup titles.
