Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford won the 2015-16 NHL General Manager of the Year Award at the NHL Awards Show at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Long regarded as one of the top wheelers-and-dealers in the NHL, Rutherford used a variety of methods, including the trade route to build the Penguins into 2016 Stanley Cup champions.
Rutherford became the first GM in the post-1967 NHL Expansion Era to manage multiple teams to Stanley Cup championships, having also done so with Carolina in 2006.
This is also the third time Rutherford has claimed top executive honors.
