There’s little doubt the Penguins would prefer to retain four-time Stanley Cup winner Chris Kunitz.
It may be tough, however, if the interest Kunitz has apparently generated translates into offers come Saturday for the start of free agency.
Agent Ben Hankinson, who represents Kunitz, said he’s fielded calls from as many as 10 teams with a legitimate shot at knocking off the Penguins next season, all interested in signing Kunitz.
No actual offers can be exchanged yet and Pittsburgh remains very much in play, but it means that there are plenty of balls in the air at the moment for Hankinson and Kunitz.
