Inconclusive replays cost Penguins a crucial goal in Game 2

A controversial call cost the Penguins a crucial goal in the third period of their Game 2 loss against the Capitals Sunday in Washington.

With his team trailing, 3-1, Sidney Crosby missed with a wraparound attempt on Capitals goalie Braden Holtby about halfway through the period. Teammate Patric Hornqvist followed the play and appeared to jam the puck into the net on a rebound.

But even as the Penguins celebrated, officials never gave a goal signal before taking a look at the replay. And that decision cost the Penguins big time, as none of the replay angles could conclusively show the puck crossing the goal line.
