Iceoplex owner sentenced to prison on tax charges

The owner of Iceoplex, one of the region's best-known indoor sports facilities, faces as much as four years in prison following his sentencing on tax charges this morning.

Steven Lynch, 61, a tax attorney from Squirrel Hill, has until mid-March to report to federal prison, but will meanwhile appeal the sentence, one of his attorneys said. U.S. District Judge Arthur Schwab handed down the sentence, which also includes $793,145 in restitution and a $75,000 fine, in front of dozens of Lynch supporters, some of whom openly wept.

Iceoplex, at the Southpointe complex in Cecil, was once the Pittsburgh Penguins' practice facility.
