NEWARK, N.J. — Plenty of things went wrong for the Penguins in their 5-2 loss to Detroit.
They gave up too many good offensive chances, failed to generate enough offensive opportunities to seize the game when they had a chance and both special teams units continued to struggle.
Most of those deficiencies, Kris Letang said after the game, can be attributed to a lack of “urgency,” something which, he hoped, could be corrected by the time the puck drops Thursday night against the Devils.
One negative aspect of the Red Wings game that the Penguins may not be able to fix quite so easily is a potential injury to Derick Brassard.
