In a surprise to absolutely no one, Kris Letang is the Penguins' nominee for the Masterton Trophy, awarded annually to the player who best exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
The award is voted on by the members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association. The members of each city's chapter of the PHWA votes for the nominee for the team they cover, then members vote for the winner of the award among the 32 nominees.
Obviously, with everything Letang has gone through this year, he was the clear No. 1 favorite to be the Penguins' nominee.
