NASHVILLE, Tenn. — What do you get when you mix Wayne Gretzky, Charles Barkley and a press conference announcing the NHL’s greatest team of all time?
A lot of laughs, apparently.
Barkley, the loquacious and likable former NBA star and current analyst, crashed the proceedings and quickly stole the stage Monday before Game 4 of the Stanley Cup final at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
“Who’s your favorite black athlete of all-time?” Barkley asked Gretzky to start.
Gretzky’s response was gold.
“Grant Fuhr,” he said after thinking a minute.
There was some more serious talk, but we’ll get there.
