The first half of this season certainly didn’t unfold exactly the way the Penguins (and their fans) expected. With 41 games down, the Penguins sit outside the NHL’s playoff picture, a point behind the Hurricanes for the last wild-card spot.
We’ll find out in the next three months (and then some) whether this season ends in a third Stanley Cup title or a spring with no playoffs (or somewhere in between). Before that gets started, let’s take a look back and assess the first half of this season:
