Fun and nostalgia mix on 50 Years of Hockey night in Pittsburgh

The night the Penguins won the Stanley Cup for the first time — May 25, 1991, to be exact — they arrived home at the old Pittsburgh International Airport, and former general manager Craig Patrick informed everyone that they couldn’t get to their cars.

So they chartered a few school buses on a 90-degree night and took the back way, through the woods, to Sewickley. On the way, a woman got the driver’s attention on the loud and crowded bus, asked him to pull over and ran to the edge of the woods to go to the bathroom.
