Former Penguins star Kevin Stevens faces drug charges

Kevin Stevens, a core member of the Penguins' Stanley Cup-winning teams in 1991 and 1992, was charged in federal court Thursday in Massachusetts with conspiring to sell oxycodone, the Boston Globe reported.

The Globe reported that court records say Stevens, who has a history of battling substance abuse and now lives outside of Boston, and another Massachusetts man, Christopher Alonardo, were charged with conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute oxycodone.

Stevens, who went through the NHL's substance abuse program, retired in 2002 after a playing career that also included stints with Philadelphia, the New York Rangers, Boston and Los Angeles.
