Former Penguins assistant coach Jacques Martin wasn’t on the job market for very long.
Martin was hired as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers on Monday afternoon.
Martin, along with fellow assistant coaches Sergei Gonchar and Mark Recchi had their contracts not renewed shortly after the Penguins lost their qualifying series to the Montreal Canadiens in four games.
Jacques Martin had been an assistant with the Penguins dating back to August 2013.
Martin eventually would be promoted to a senior advisor of hockey operations role before going back to an assistant coach in 2015.
