Five thoughts: Riley Sheahan making it tough on Penguins management

ST. LOUIS — Whether or not Riley Sheahan will produce enough offense from his third-line center spot is something Penguins management has been contemplating for weeks.

Sheahan has not made reaching a conclusion easy, especially lately.

In fact, Sheahan has played so well that he’s probably convincing general manager Jim Rutherford to eschew acquiring outside help and instead focusing on other needs.

Sheahan produced goals in weekend games in Dallas (a 4-3 shootout loss) and St. Louis (a 4-1 win). Over his past eight games, Sheahan has two goals and seven points while showing an increasing comfortability in the offensive attack.
