When the Penguins re-signed Matt Cullen to a one-year, $1 million contract on Aug. 17, the organization sort of subtly stated its assessment of Oskar Sundqvist. Essentially that the Penguins would like to see him develop more before he centers their fourth line on a full-time basis.
The volume on that message increased a couple notches Friday.
Much like they did with Derrick Pouliot a season ago, the Penguins made public their intention to send Sundqvist to London, Ontario, as the headline piece in their annual rookie tournament at Budweiser Gardens, home of the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights.
