The Ducks claimed forward Andrew Agozzino off waivers from the Penguins at noon on Monday.
The Penguins had to put Agozzino on waivers on Sunday if they wished to keep his AHL eligibility for the remainder of the season. After the trade deadline, no player can be sent down to the AHL unless he was already in the AHL at the time of the deadline. Waivers-eligible players have to be put on waivers at noon the day before the deadline so they can be assigned to the AHL if they clear.
Agozzino, obviously, did not clear and will not be on an AHL roster at the time of the deadline, so he will finish the year in the NHL with the Ducks.
