Derick Brassard admitted he was close to going a little stir-crazy.
Stuck in Toronto for the past three days while his immigration paperwork processed, Brassard was skating, working out and waiting for permission to join his new Penguins teammates.
It didn’t help matters that even when he finally got the go-ahead, his flight to Pittsburgh on Monday night was delayed two hours.
Brassard eventually got in, though, and was on the ice at PPG Paints Arena as a member of the Penguins for the first time at Tuesday morning’s optional skate. He will make his Penguins debut Tuesday night against the Devils after being acquired in a complex three-team trade Friday.
