Jeff Taylor is no stranger to Penguins development camp, but this time is different from his three previous opportunities. When this year’s four-day session concludes, it will be the first time Taylor, a seventh-round draft pick in 2014, won’t be returning his focus to an upcoming season at Union College.
Instead, he’ll be placing it all on preparation for his first full season of professional hockey.
The nerves he used to feel, especially his first summer coming off a national-title winning freshman season, have dissipated and developed into a strong perspective. He knows this is a chance to learn, to grow as a player, but it’s also “just a camp in June,” he said, so, “you’ve gotta buckle down, focus when you’re on the ice, but other than that have fun.
