Penguins prospect Daniel Sprong, who saw NHL action with Pittsburgh earlier this year, was named the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s ‘Second Star’ of the week.
Sprong, 18, had six assists in two games for the Charlottetown Islanders last week, including his third four-point game of the year with four helpers on Friday night against division-leading Saint John.
Saturday, the 6-foot, 180-pound Sprong collected his 200th career QMJHL point with his second assist on Saturday. Sprong has 84 goals, 116 assists and 200 points in 166 career QMJHL regular-season contests.
Since returning to Charlottetown in December, Sprong has 44 points (15G-29A) in 31 games.
