The past still echoes in Ian Cole’s mind, and it’s got a distinct voice.
Cole occasionally hears St. Louis Blues associate coach Brad Shaw at times even after being traded to the Penguins in a deadline deal last year, and it usually happens when he has done something wrong.
“He was fantastic, an unbelievable teacher, very detail-oriented,” said Cole. “He really is very peculiar as far as making sure your skates are angled the right way. Or your stick is a quarter turn this way. You make sure you take your head [when] looking over your shoulder and look a little bit further.
