When Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury looks at team captain, Sidney Crosby, he sees a different man than the one who hoisted the Stanley Cup in 2009.
“A little more beard,” Fleury says with a smile. “A little more grey in his hair.”
Yes, Crosby’s playoff beard has filled in to reach near-respectability. But there’s also plenty of stories behind those gray hairs.
The last time Crosby lifted the Cup — as he has a chance to do tonight if the Penguins can finish off the San Jose Sharks — he was just 21 years old, the youngest captain in NHL history to lead his team to a championship.
