Bryan Rust is back. Why's that so big for the Penguins?

NEW YORK — Barring something crazy, you can expect Bryan Rust to return from a two-game absence because of a concussion when the Penguins play the Rangers Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.

“I feel good,” Rust said after morning skate. “It was good to get that practice under my belt [Tuesday]. Then this morning I got a good skate in. If all things go well this afternoon, things are going upward.”

Officially, Rust is considered a game-time decision. When you’re talking about the Penguins’ playoff chances, however, Rust should be considered something else: crucial.

Nobody on the Penguins roster is more versatile than Rust, who can play either wing, something he started doing in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton while playing for John Hynes.
