The punctuation of that sentence probably makes all the difference in how you look at the Penguins’ future after their season ended Friday in New York.
Optimists will point to all those near misses against the Rangers in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs as evidence that the club isn’t as far off from being a title contender as it’s seemed since Letang went down in late February with a concussion.
