The NHL announced some major awards tonight. As expected, no Penguin players won anything. Only one member of the team was even a finalist, with Sidney Crosby nominated for the Ted Lindsay Award (the player’s vote for MVP). Crosby finished behind winner Connor McDavid. This award is already the third in McDavid’s career, which matches Sid’s total.
Crosby finished fourth place in the Hart Trophy voting this year, for league MVP. This marks an impressive ninth time the Pittsburgh captain has finished in the top five in voting for this award. Crosby has won it twice.
Kris Letang finished ninth in voting for the Norris Trophy as the league’s top defenseman.
