Matt Murray basically can’t lose when it comes to the NHL postseason, as last week he reached 25 career playoff wins in fewer games (36) than any goalie ever.
It’s been tougher for Murray to win the battle of public perception. That has been hard to understand. It also hasn’t been fair.
“He’s one of the best young goalies in the game,” Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford was telling me by phone on Monday afternoon. “And the future of our team.”
Marc-Andre Fleury was great. Tremendously likable. One of the genuinely best people you’ll ever meet.
