PITTSBURGH -- Michael Young and Sheldon Jeter each posted double-doubles, Pittsburgh held its opposition to 21 percent shooting and the Panthers opened their season with an 84-43 victory against St. Joseph's (Ind.) College on Tuesday night.
Young finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and five assists to lead Pitt (1-0). Cameron Johnson scored 10 points and Jeter added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers.
Davone Daniels led St. Joseph's (0-3) with 10 points as the Pumas made 11 of 53 field goals.
The Pumas did not make a basket until seven minutes into the game when Nathan Tidwell made a long jumper.
