Pitt midfielder Veljko Petkovic was named Player of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer earlier this week after scoring three goals in two games against UCF and Washington in the 2021 NCAA tournament. His performances in the two games extended a points streak that began against Monmouth on May 2 and helped the Panthers reach the College Cup.
The Serbian’s outstanding showing began on May 6, when he opened up the scoring for Pitt against UCF by getting a shot past Knights goalkeeper Yannik Oettl just 23 second into the game. The goal was the fastest scored by a Pitt player in program history.
