The Pitt baseball team’s season came to an end after its 5-2 loss to Louisville in the ACC tournament, but it looks like freshman outfielder Ron Washington Jr. will get an opportunity to continue developing his game in the offseason, as he was signed by the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League on Sunday.
The collegiate summer league is financially supported in part by Major League Baseball, and its motto is, “Where the stars of tomorrow shine tonight.” It counts a number of MLB standouts among its alumni, including Craig Biggio, Ryan Braun, Kris Bryant, Will Clark, Carlton Fisk, Nomar Garciaparra, Aaron Judge, Buster Posey, Chris Sale, Frank Thomas and Chase Utley.
