Former Pitt return specialist and wide receiver Quadree Henderson was promoted to the 53-man roster of the New York Giants over the weekend, as the team sought a replacement for return man and wide receiver Jawill Davis, who will be benched Monday with a concussion.
“He was a really fine returner in college, and we brought him here with the idea that he might return for us at some point,” Giants head coach Pat Shurmur told reporters when asked about adding Henderson. “He’s also done a good job picking up the receiver stuff.”
Although Henderson became a star at Pitt for his work as a returner, earning consensus All-American honors in 2016, he washed out of the Pittsburgh Steelers organization after seeing action as a specialist in the preseason.
