Pitt’s non-conference basketball season is over (here are five takeaways I had) and the Panthers finished 8-5. Most years, that would be considered a down year but this season, things are a little different. Pitt’s roster consists mostly of players that had never even played D-I basketball before and the Panthers are relying on numerous freshmen to play big minutes.
Pitt had some ugly moments in the non-conference. They started the season with losses to Navy and Montana, and they were blown out by Penn State. But they also had some good moments. The team has won seven of its last eight games and competed well in matchups against Oklahoma State and a ranked West Virginia team.
