The Pitt women’s basketball team opened its ACC season on Thursday, losing to Virginia, 62-50.
That the game was even that close is a bit of a testament to the team. Pitt started out ice cold, beginning the game 1-10 from the field and picking up seven turnovers. The Panthers had only two points with about a minute left in the first quarter before hitting a few late shots to score eight for the period.
Pitt ultimately got down by as much as 26 but fought back in the second half. By then, though, it was too late.
